Slottsskogen lawns

The city park that gives Gothenburg trips their breathing room.

Gothenburg canal and brick waterfront in late-afternoon light

Slottsskogen is large enough to wander without a spreadsheet. Lawns, trees, and other dogs are the agenda. It is the right first morning if you are staying at the Linné Garden Villa and do not want the day to depend on a tram.

Go earlier on Saturdays. Bring a bag, because a park this loved stays nice only if everyone acts like it. The villa garden is for later, when the park has done its job.

Good to know

  • Animals living in the park are not a petting zoo for your dog.
  • Shade matters in July. Water matters always.
  • The archipelago is a different day. Do not rush this one to catch a boat.

Leash: On, unless you are in a signed off-leash area and your recall is real.
